It is with a heavy heart that we have to share the sad news of the passing of our friend John McCaulley.
Please join his family and friends for a memorial service on September 28, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Eagle River Presbyterian Church located at 455 Nottingham Ranch Road in Avon.
In his memory, donations may be made to Swift Eagle Charitable Fund, PO Box 1977, Avon, CO 81620, to be used for local needs and a scholarship for a CMC fire science student.
John Charles McCaulley was born on April 22, 1955, in Denver to Wade and Elizabeth McCaulley. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rebecca McCaulley, and his children Madison and Wade McCaulley. He is also survived by five siblings; Patricia Tomes, David McCaulley, Cynthia McCaulley-Vaught, Dennis McCaulley, and Katherine Bussinger (John), in addition to many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John had a long and fulfilling career as a firefighter working his way up the ladder from volunteer firefighter to deputy fire chief. After retirement, he began a new career at Eagle River Water and Sanitation District, most recently as manager of field operations. He worked for the community by serving on several boards, most recently with the Edwards Metropolitan District and Eagle River Fire Protection District Board of Directors. He was also active in the Special District Association for Colorado. He felt fortunate to be involved in many projects that helped to shape the development of Edwards and the greater community.
John was so grateful and proud to be a father to Maddie and Wade. John was also passionate about the great outdoors and enjoyed fly fishing, hiking, some good years nordic and tele-skiing, the annual trip to Rockies Spring Training with his brother Dennis, and neighborhood Broncos parties. John had a passion for cooking and his food was always welcomed by family and friends.
He led a life well-lived, filled with family, love and generosity. After a short but mighty battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed away peacefully on September 14 in Vail with the loving support of family and friends and excellent care by his team at the hospital.

Elizabeth Reilly, President
Beth Reilly has lived in Eagle County since 1983 and within the Edwards Metro District in the Miller Ranch neighborhood since 2004. Beth has found that the Edwards Metro District is the perfect place to raise a family and her two children have benefited from the abundance of child/youth friendly resources in the community. Beth currently works for Eagle County Schools in the Early Childhood Department as the Health and Compliance Manager. She is also adjunct faculty for Colorado Mountain College. In addition, she facilitates the civic engagement curriculum for the Family Leadership Training Institute. She is also involved with numerous non-profits in the county.
Beth received her education from the University of Minnesota and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health and enjoys skiing, gardening, and watching youth baseball.
Kara Heide, Secretary
Kara Heide moved to the Vail Valley in 1976. During her 32 year-career with Vail Resorts working with philanthropy and governmental affairs, Heide founded the Vail Handicapped Ski School in the 1980s. Since then, she served as the Executive Director of the Eagle Valley Land Trust before retiring.
Kara won the "Citizen of the Year" award by the Vail Valley Foundation in 1994 and now serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations in both Eagle and Summit counties.
Mick Woodworth, Treasurer
Mick has lived in Edwards since 2003. Mick and his wife, a Vail Valley native, reside in the Miller Ranch neighborhood with their two sons who attend school in Edwards. Since 2003, Mick has been with the Fire District, he currently serves as Fire Marshall with Eagle River Fire Protection District.
Mick has been serving as a board member since 2014 and enjoys snowboarding and soccer.

John is a Colorado native and has lived in Edwards, Colorado for almost 0 years. He is happily married with two children. John has a special passion for special districts and currently serves on the Colorado Special District Property and Liability Pool and SDA Legislative Committee. He previously served on Boards of the Edwards Metropolitan District, Western Eagle County Recreation District, and Special District Association of Colorado.
In 2006 John retired from the Eagle River Fire Protection District after 28 years of service. He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Operations for ERFPD. John currently manages the Eagle River Water & Sanitation District Customer Service Department. When he's not helping customers he can be found telling hilarious jokes and making his coworkers smile.
William Simmons, V. President/Assist Sec/Treas
Bill moved to Edwards with his wife Shelley in 1987. Since then, both Simmons children, Clark and Emily, grew up in Edwards. During his time in Edwards, Bill has served on a number of community boards including the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District (currently), the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships Organizing Committee (2012-2015), Red Sky Metro District (2010-present), and many others. Bill began serving on Edwards Metro Board in 2003.
Ken Marchetti, District Administrator
Ken Marchetti moved to Edwards in early 1994, when he joined Mr. Robertson's firm in Eagle County, Colorado. Since 1994, Ken has been the managing partner, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Marchetti and Weaver, LLC in Riverwalk, which handles the accounting, budgeting, and administration for metropolitan districts, property owners associations and golf courses.
Ken is a member of the American Institute and Colorado Society of CPAs and the Colorado Government Finance Officers Association. He also serves on the boards of various business, civic and community organizations.
Ken graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from New Mexico State University.
Meghan Hayes, Account Manager
Meghan recently moved to the valley from Breckenridge, where she was the Office Manager for a well known Restaurant Group. She has worked in a variety of positions in her career centered on Finance/Accounting such as Comedy Central, MTV Networks and Disney. Meghan works with numerous special districts and homeowners associations providing accounting and administration for these clients. Meghan currently works with Marchetti and Weaver, LLC.
Meghan received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New York at Albany.
