Looking for a fun and free outdoor activity this winter? The Edwards outdoor ice rinks, located on the turf field outside the Edwards Field House, are open for the holiday season! Perfect for kids and adults alike, these rinks offer a unique way to enjoy winter without the crowds and lift lines.

  • Two Rinks for All Skaters:
    • One rink is dedicated to casual skating.
    • The other features nets for hockey enthusiasts.
  • Free Skates: Don’t have skates? No problem! Free skates are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, stored in boxes at the nearby baseball dugouts (limited supply).

The rinks are managed entirely by volunteers, led by local resident Tom Boyd, with a small Zamboni built into a golf cart used for maintenance. Funding and operational support come from the Vail Mountaineers Hockey Club, Mountain Recreation, and contributions from local organizations. Edwards Metropolitan District (EMD) proudly contributed $5,000 toward this incredible community project.

Volunteers are essential to keeping the rinks running. If you'd like to help maintain the ice, contact Mountain Recreation HERE. Bring warm clothes suited for ice and water!
