West Lake Bridge

West Lake Creek Road closures scheduled for the fall

October 7, 2024 - All project road closures have been completed.

July 22, 2024 - The Eagle County Engineering and Road & Bridge Departments will replace the existing West Lake Creek Road bridge over East Lake Creek. The project will be constructed under traffic. Automated flagger assistance devices will be in place to control traffic flow, with traffic often reduced to one lane. Due to the site's constraints, four road closures will be required to construct the bridge. A closure will be required for the placement of the bridge abutments, and an additional closure approximately a week later for the placement of the bridge decks. These closures will need to be implemented for each half of the bridge, first, the north half will be constructed, and then the south half.
Construction is scheduled to start on Monday, August 5, 2024, with a completion date of Friday, November 15, 2024.
Additional press releases will be posted prior to the actual closures of the road.
The tentative dates of the closures are:

·         Thursday, August 22, 2024

·         Thursday, August 29, 2024

·         Tuesday, September 24, 2024

·         Monday, September 30, 2024

Each road closure is tentatively scheduled for 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The tentative Thursday, August 22, 2024, and Thursday, August 29, 2024 road closures will also require the de-energization of the overhead power lines due to the proximity of construction equipment to those overhead power lines during the duration of the closure.
“The West Lake Creek Road Bridge was originally constructed in 1940.  Due to the structure’s age and condition, it has been determined that replacement of the structure is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Eagle County,” said Eagle County Senior Staff Engineer Rickie Davies.
The Eagle County Engineering Department directed the replacement of this bridge, which the contractor, Gould Construction, LLC, will perform
